Men Behaving Badly

MEN BEHAVING BADLY spawned the cult of laddism. With
its outrageous but endearing characters, the programme was warmly
received by audiences and critics alike - and half its viewers were
women. The title has now entered into common usage, often used in
headlines to describe the antics of politicians, footballers and other
celebrities. When ITV decided not to take up the option for a third
series, Beryl Vertue took the series to the BBC; switching networks
was almost unprecedented. The programme went from strength to strength,
won many awards and regularly received rave reviews, handsomely rewarding
the BBC's faith in the project...

"A wonderful script and wonderful performances... It's all very funny, very watchable, and one of the best things currently on TV." (Daily Mirror)
"So good that the BBC schedule could hardly live without it." (Daily Express)
"It has tapped into the Zeitgeist and has won a ridiculous number of awards. It has become a national institution." (The Guardian)
"[MEN BEHAVING BADLY] went off with a big bang, shooting meteorically across the night sky... this superb chronicle of the sordid joys of bachelor
existence never lost its momentum for a second, hitting the screen running, and ducking and diving right up to the closing credits... near-perfect
comedy series... proving that the US doesn't have a complete monopoly on wonderful sitcom in the Nineties." (Evening Standard)
