Hartswood Films to open Cardiff office February 2010

Hartswood Films have announced that they are setting up an office in Cardiff, Hartswood Films West, to be headed up by Welsh-born Film and Television Executive Philippa Collie Cousins. The first production to be shot in Wales will be the recently announced modern day Sherlock, co-created by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss. Starring Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes and Martin Freeman as Dr John Watson, the 3 x 90' productions for BBC1 will be produced by Sue Vertue.

The Cup

The Cup is a new comedy series shot in a documentary style about Bolton based Ashburn United Football Club and their quest to win the North and Midlands Under 11’s Cup in Birmingham. It rapidly becomes apparent that the real story is the selfish and obsessive behaviour of the kids’ parents as they try to live their own dreams through their children. The six-part series is written by Moray Hunter and Jack Docherty (ABSOLUTELY, THE CREATIVES) based on the Canadian series THE TOURNAMENT produced by Adjacent 2 Entertainment and created by Howard Busgang, Wendy Hopkins and Marty Putz which was set in the world of junior ice hockey.

Rose d'Or Awards 2008

JEKYLL and James Nesbitt have been shortlisted for this year's prestigious Rose d'Or Awards for Best Drama and Best Entertainer. The Festival, which takes place between the 2nd and the 6th May in Lucerne, aims "to reward originality, quality and creativity in entertainment programming, and to encourage excellence in television."
The Cup

Hartswood will shortly commence shooting THE CUP, a 6 x 30mins comedy series for BBC 2 written by Jack Docherty and Moray Hunter based on a Canadian format created by Howard Busgang, Marty Putz and Adjacent 2 Entertainment. The series is to be produced by Sue Vertue and directed by Matt Lipsey.

James Nesbitt
...was recently nominated for a prestigious Golden Globe Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Mini-Series made for Television, for his critically acclaimed starring role in Hartswood Film's JEKYLL . He says: "To receive a nomination for one part is an enormous honour. To receive it for two is confusing but brilliant! We're both very happy!"
