Hartswood Films
announce principal casting for new sitcom
"CARRIE AND BARRY"
Neil Morrissey is to be reunited with the production team and the writer who made him a
household name in the long-running hit sitcom "Men Behaving Badly". Neil is set to star
opposite Claire Rushbrook ("Linda Green", "Family Business") and Mark Williams
("The Fast Show", "Harry Potter") in CARRIE AND BARRY, a brand new sitcom by writer
Simon Nye ("Men Behaving Badly", "Hardware"). The series is to be directed by Martin Dennis
("Men Behaving Badly", ""Black Books") and executive produced by Beryl Vertue
("Men Behaving Badly", "Coupling"). The Producer is Sue Vertue ("Coupling", "Gimme, Gimme, Gimme").
Beryl Vertue comments: "I have been wanting to do another project with Simon for some time and
CARRIE AND BARRY fits the bill perfectly. Like "Men Behaving Badly", it's raucous, laugh-out-loud
funny, and most definitely post-watershed. Simon has written some very funny scripts and created
wonderful characters for three extremely talented actors."
CARRIE AND BARRY is a Hartswood Films production for BBC One. The series has been commissioned by BBC
One Controller Lorraine Heggessey and Jane Lush, Controller, Entertainment Commissioning. Head of
Comedy Mark Freeland is the Executive Producer for the BBC. The series goes into production at the end of May.
