Sherlock receives a phenomenal 12 Primetime Emmy nominations

His Last Vow, the final episode of the third series of Hartswood Films’ hugely successful Sherlock, has been nominated in 12 categories at this year’s Primetime Emmy Awards.

The nominations include Outstanding Television Movie, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Miniseries for Benedict Cumberbatch, Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Miniseries for Martin Freeman, Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries for Steven Moffat, and Outstanding Directing for a Miniseries for Nick Hurran.

Sherlock also received nominations for Cinematography, Music Composition, Costume, Casting, Single-Camera Editing, Sound Mixing and Sound Editing.

This will be the second time the show has received Emmy nominations, after the second series received 13 nominations in the 2011 awards.

The 66th Primetime Emmy Awards will take place on 25th August at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, with the Creative Arts Emmy Awards prior to that on 16th August.
