Hartswood Films’ Sherlock has officially become a global phenomenon after being sold to more broadcasters internationally than any other BBC show, according to the BBC’s annual report published this month.
The detective drama is broadcast across 224 territories around the world including America, France, Germany, Serbia, India and Taiwan.
Earlier this year it was confirmed that Sherlock was the most watched BBC drama in the UK since 2001, when the third series – which aired in January – averaged an astounding 11.82 million viewers. His Last Vow, the final episode of the latest series, also recently received an astounding 12 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, including Outstanding TV Movie and Outstanding Writing for a Miniseries.
A fourth series and a one-off special were confirmed in July by the BBC, with filming for the special beginning in January 2015 and the series scheduled to shoot later next year.
