Benedict Cumberbatch has been named Best Actor for his leading roles in both Sherlock and Parade’s End.
Media Guardian’s John Plunkett, who chairs the awards, said this year’s winners prove there is a strong future in British scripted drama and comedy. “Quality drama series have been all over our screens in 2012, from one-offs such as Victoria Wood’s Loving Miss Hatto for BBC One to the same channel’s Last Tango in Halifax, and Sherlock,” he wrote.
The Broadcasting Press Guild Awards, presented in London, were voted for by media journalists.
